As this is a private tour with local English speaking Karen hill tribe guide and his family, you will have lots of time to discuss with your guide the local hill tribe life and the surrounding forests. You will meet his family and partake in daily life. Your guide will also discuss with you the different trails and their difficulty and you can then decide which trail to hike and for how long. This can all be discussed with your guide once you arrive at your guides home in the park. The itinerary below can be changed to meet your desires.

The Karen hill tribe homestay at Doi Inthanon is for those who want to explore the cloud forest and waterfall hiking with your English speaking guide. Excellent for those who enjoy jungle and forest trekking and at the same time experience Karen hill tribe life..

The Thai Myanmar border homestay is for those who want to visit several hill tribes and enjoy a long tail boat trip. Excellent for those who want to experience hill tribe life with your host Karen hill tribe English and hill tribe speaking guide.

Village 1, Doi Inthanon National Park Home Stay

Day 1

We will meet in Chiang Mai and depart by private air conditioned mini van for Doi Inthanon National Park. We then travel by vehicle to another trail for a beautiful 2 hour easy trek to a beautiful waterfall where you can swim in the cold water if you wish. Your guide will show you the different edible plants and medicines. You will enjoy a Thai lunch at a restaurant along a beautiful stream. We then enjoy the Karen Hill Tribe hill tribe people in the village.

We then go to your guides home or your bungalow near a Karen Hill Tribe village. Here your local guide and his family will make an all you can eat Thai food dinner for you. After dinner you will have a camp fire.

Day 2
This morning after breakfast at your guides home or the bungalows we start your trek through the cloud forest and jungle. We will take lunch with us to eat at the the waterfall where you can swim.. We then travel along a beautiful stream with many waterfalls then visit the Karen hill tribe village.

You can then work with your Karen guide picking and roasting coffee, feeding fish at the trout fish farm, learn weaving with a back strap loom, learn to play the Karen musical harp, plant or harvest rice in the fields. Help cook and have lunch with the villagers Return to Chiang Mai visiting a very large waterfall along the way. (B,L)

Village 2, Thailand - Myanmar Border Hill Tribe Homestay

Shan hill tribe village and the Mae Kok River in Thaton Chiang Mai Thailand Day 1
This morning we depart Chiang Mai at 7 AM and travel to Chiang Dao Cave Shrine for a 30 minute walk through the cave. (Option) If you would like to go deep into the cave you can hire local guides with lanterns to guide you through the deep crevasses. We then have lunch and travel to the small town of Thaton on the Thai - Myanmar (Burmese) border stopping at an old fashion rice mill along the way..From here we go behind the temple by vehicle to a primitive Lahu hill tribe village. This is one of the villages we help at All Thailand Experiences help with blankets, clothes, medicines and daily supplies when needed. If you would like to help you can. Overnight home stay in your guide's Karen hill tribe villge.

We then go to your Karen hill tribe Guide's home and meet his family. Your host and guide speaks perfect English and all the hill tribe languages. We then go to the local market to purchase fresh items to cook for dinner tonight. You can help your hodt family cook delicious food.(B,L,D)

Day 2
Lahu village childrenThis morning after breakfast we Visit Akha hill tribe village and other villages if overnight in your guide's Karen hill tribe village home.

Ridning in a Karen Tractor TrailorThe villagers are farmers and very poor. Many do not speak Thai and none of them speak English. They are our friends and very shy so do not like tour operators bring visitors to see them however they welcome us like family as we help them and respect their culture. There are a few culture and custom rules we must follow and your guide will explain them to you.

From the Lahu village we travel along roads with orange and lychee groves, Akha, Karen, Lisu and Lahu villagers working in their fields to a beautiful temple hot springs for a delicious Thai lunch.

We then travel through hill tribe villages to meet our private long tail boat for the 2 hour journey through mountain canyons to Chiang Rai. There is a rest room half way along the journey should you need to stop. We might see hil tribe working on vertical sloped mountainsides, elephants bathing in the river and locals fishing in the river.
The private van and driver will meet us in Chiang Rai and then return to Chiang Mai or Chiang Rai and your hotel. (B,L)

You have a choice of an air conditioned bungalow on the banks of the Mae Kok River or a Karen village home stay with you local guide. You will have your own bedroom in your guides very clean home with fan.
