Doi Inthanon National Park Thailand Bird Watching and Photography Tour (1 or 2 days)

A total of 382 species of birds are so far known from Doi Inthanon Thailand.

At least 266 bird species are resident on the mountain. The status of a further 12 bird species is unclear, but breeding is suspected in many of these. The remainder (104 species) are non-breeding winter bird visitors or passage migrants.

We provide transportation for the Doi Inthanon bird watching tour to, from and in the Park from Chiang Mai Thailand. Our expert English speaking birding guide who lives in the park. We suggest a minimum of two days one night in the park however 3 days 2 nights is recommended to cover the entire park.

About the birding tour

Although the list of species is very impressive I only included the list of birds I have seen here in the itinerary. I am sure we will spot species I have yet to spot as it happens more often than not.Because of the different altitudes from 400 to over 2500 meters, a wide variety of bird species can be seen.

Day 1
We will meet you at your hotel in Chiang Mai. at 5:15 AM and transfer to Doi Inthanon National Park with your local experienced English speaking birding guide.

We start at an altitude of 1700 meters. There is a 1 kilometer section of evergreen forest and pine that support a variety of bird species near the road on the forest edge. This zone has a higher bird species diversity than any other on the mountain between sunrise and 10 AM.:

NOTICE: If more then 1 day (2 or 3 days) your guide will take you to areas you have not visited also return to some areas you have already birded to photo or see birds we missed on day 1.

  • 1 day or several nights in the park in comfortable bungalow with private hot water shower and western toilet.
  • English speaking experienced local birding guide who knows all the birds by sight and sound and knows where that special bird you want to see resides in the park

All meals are of delicious all you can eat freshly made Thai food. We can accommodate those who are vegetarian or have allergies.


Private bungalows with fan (air conditioning not needed because of the cool temperatures), 2 queen sized beds in each room, western style toilet with hot shower, fresh clean large bath towels, shampoo, soap, in room coffee and tea. 2 and 3 bedroom bungalows and triple rooms available. You have a choice of beautiful terraced rice field view bungalow good for spotting birds from the porch or romantic stream side bungalow among the trees.
